Politeness, Behaviour and Interpersonal Communication: Developing a better understanding across Diverse Cultures

 This session aims to look in more detail at those areas which can give rise to misunderstanding and explore ways of avoiding this. It addresses:
  • Oral communication
  • Formal Vs Informal forms of address
  • Body language
  • Attitudes to time
  • Written communication: emails etc

This is for staff who have attended both Introduction to Intercultural Competency and Developing Intercultural Competency.

Outcomes :

By the end of the session, delegates should be able to:
  • understand more about different conventions of politeness
  • identify differences in approach that lead to misunderstanding
  • develop ways of explaining concepts/requirements in an inclusive way

Who is it for?

Staff who have attended both Introduction to Intercultural Competency and Developing Intercultural Competency.
