Basic First Aid

This course is for staff and students, and is delivered by the Safety Office. Facilitated by the British Red Cross, this one day course focuses on key life-saving skills.This course is not currently available, while the Safety Office is reviewing provision.

The course provides an opportunity to learn the first aid response to the most common accidents and situations such as blood loss, shock, muscular/skeletal injuries and burns. This practical session will give participants the opportunity to learn and practice cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with the use of a resuscitation manikin.

Outcomes :

By the end of the course participants should:
  • gain a basic understanding of emergency care
  • understand relevant related theory
  • gain practical experience in basic first aid techniques
